MAD Sim - Multiaxial Dynamic Testing Facility

The Chair of Structural Mechanics and Monitoring is in charge of the MAD-SIM multiaxial dynamic testing facility; an external page MTS hexapod shake table device of 6 degrees of freedom. The device employs advanced Degree-of-Freedom Control and Three-variable Control technologies, allowing for replication of input accelerations (e.g. earthquake ground motion) with high precision. The MAD-Sim system will be used for hybrid simulation, linking a simulated model to the testing interface by means of appropriate actuation and control (this feature will be activated soon).

The table's structure is designed to work with a system rated to 100 Hz maximum operating frequency. The first resonant mode of the bare table lies above 150 Hz. The horizontal dimensions of the table are 2.2 m by 2.2 m. The table can admit a specimen mass of up to 1tn, with its center of gravity situated at maximum 500mm from the table surface.

*The table is at the moment situated in a temporary position (HIF C51 - Bauhalle) and is not yet operated at full capacity.
