Channeling some good vibrations!

Congratulations to Giulia Aguzzi for successfully defending her PhD

Dr. Aguzzi on the rooftop of the HIL building at campus Hönggerberg

Congratulations to Giulia Aguzzi for successfully defending her doctoral thesis on Architected Metastructures for Elastic Wave Control, under the primary supervision of Dr. Andrea Colombi (SNSF Swiss National Science Foundation Ambizione Fellow) and Prof. Eleni Chatzi's co-supervision at the Chair of Structural Mechanics and Monitoring at ETH Zurich!

Giulia experimentally, analytically and numerically investigated architected metastructures for wave attenuation and guiding, targeting excitation sources of different frequency characteristics. She explored applications across spectral scales, from groundborne vibrations (and the kHz range), to novel solutions for #structuralengineering applications (in the lower frequency range of few Hz).

Thank you to the committee members, Prof. Katie Matlack and Prof. Richard Craster, for the great comments and discussion!
